Men tend to handle stress better if they can “do something,” so let your partner go for that drive, take that bike ride, or start building the deck when he is frustrated or feeling overwhelmed.

If your guy is athletic, suggest that he join a sports league to get out his stress and meet new friends.

Suggest that he bond with the kids by roughhousing or playing before dinner—not at bedtime—so everyone gets to bed on time.

Encourage him to get eight hours of sleep at night, not to burn the midnight oil falling down the Internet rabbit hole or playing video games to get his stress out.

Find the humor in your days together by sending each other funny videos or watching your favorite funny movies once a week. Comedic relief can often help lighten the whole family.

Suggest that he get out into nature. Even better, take a walk outside together.
